kalq.net
A collection of tools I built because I kept needing them.
My name is Chris Holm. I'm a teaching pastor at a church in Columbiana, Ohio, a wedding photographer, and someone who has spent too many years building software tools for problems that should already have good solutions. kalq.net is a product of that habit.
The honest origin story: I was working on a capital campaign at our church and needed to calculate pledge breakdowns quickly, in a meeting, without hunting through spreadsheets. Then I needed a sermon time estimator. Then a per capita giving calculator. Then a mortgage calculator I could actually trust. Each one I built for myself first.
I got tired of tool sites that are cluttered, require an account, upload your data somewhere, or bury the actual calculator under three ads and a newsletter popup. So I built the kind of site I wanted to use. Everything here runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. No account needed. No data leaves your device.
What I actually use these for
The church and ministry tools get used in elder meetings and generosity campaigns. The finance calculators help me think through decisions before I make them. The health tools help me stay honest about what my numbers actually mean. The construction calculators have saved me multiple hardware store trips. The photography business tools I built when I was trying to figure out whether a side income was actually worth the time.
The goal with each tool is one page, one purpose, no friction. You put in numbers, you get an answer. That's it.
The site
kalq.net is a static site built with plain HTML, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript. No frameworks, no backend, no database. Every page is a self-contained file. This is intentional: it loads fast, it works offline, and nothing can go wrong on a server because there is no server. If something breaks, I broke it.
I build things like this as side projects alongside pastoral work and photography. If a tool is wrong or missing something obvious, the contact page is real and I read it.
