US Time Zone Converter
Convert any time between US time zones: Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, Alaska, and Hawaii.
US time zones trip people up constantly for scheduling calls, broadcasts, and travel. The four-hour spread from Eastern to Pacific means a 9 AM Pacific call is noon Eastern. I built this one specifically for coordinating with people across the country without doing mental math every time.
Quick reference: ET = CT + 1 hour = MT + 2 hours = PT + 3 hours = AKT + 4 hours = HST + 5 hours. If it's 2 PM Eastern, it's 11 AM Pacific.
US time zones explained
Eastern (ET): UTC-5 (standard) / UTC-4 (daylight). Covers most of the East Coast including New York, Miami, Atlanta, Detroit. About 48% of the US population. Central (CT): UTC-6/UTC-5. Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Minneapolis. Mountain (MT): UTC-7/UTC-6. Denver, Phoenix, Salt Lake City. Note: Arizona does not observe daylight saving time, staying on MST year-round (effectively PT during summer). Pacific (PT): UTC-8/UTC-7. Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, Las Vegas. Alaska (AKT): UTC-9/UTC-8. Most of Alaska. Hawaii (HST): UTC-10. Hawaii does not observe daylight saving time.
Daylight saving time
Most US states observe daylight saving time (DST), moving clocks forward one hour in March and back in November. Exceptions: Arizona (except the Navajo Nation), Hawaii, and US territories including Puerto Rico, Guam, and the US Virgin Islands. During DST, the offset between time zones stays the same (all observing states move together), but the gap between observing and non-observing states shifts by an hour.
