About this calculator

Business day calculations come up constantly in legal, financial, and contract contexts. A 30-day notice period that excludes weekends is not 30 calendar days. A loan that closes "5 business days after approval" closes on a specific weekday you need to know. This calculator handles both directions: find the date N business days from now, or count business days between two specific dates.

"Business days" means Monday through Friday, excluding weekends. It does not automatically exclude holidays, which vary by jurisdiction. For legal or contract deadlines, confirm whether your specific agreement excludes federal holidays, banking holidays, or state holidays in addition to weekends.

Common 30-business-day windows

Many consumer protection laws and contracts specify 30-business-day windows: FCRA credit dispute resolution (30 business days), some state landlord-tenant notice periods, contractor lien periods, and various regulatory response deadlines. 30 business days is approximately 6 calendar weeks, not one month. The difference matters when deadline compliance is at issue.

Frequently asked questions

Does this calculator exclude holidays?

No. It counts weekdays (Monday through Friday) only. US federal holidays vary by state application and contractual definition. For deadline-critical calculations, add the relevant holidays manually or consult the specific agreement language.

What is a "banking day" vs a "business day"?

Banking days exclude weekends and federal banking holidays (there are 11 per year). Business days typically exclude only weekends in most contractual contexts. Some financial regulations specify "banking days" specifically โ€” check the regulation or contract for which definition applies.
